For decades it has been the fashion
to revere Mother Nature,
to give at least lip service to
the idea of conservation.
But when I look at 'nature'
I see the law of tooth and claw
and I don't want to acknowledge
that that is how we survive.

But we have advanced brains, I'm told.
We can think in the abstract. We can understand
that harmonious coexistence
will lead to a better world for humans.....
oh yes and for other animals and the environment.

There is an assumption here.
That humans have the unnatural self control
to live without violence.

We're working on it.

Aren't we?
